This week our theme was fireworks. Due to the holiday, it was a much shorter week than normal. On Monday, we talked about the letter F and how fireworks start with the letter F (our letter of the week). We talked about the different colors of fireworks. I helped the kids squirt glue on their paper in the shape of fireworks then they poured different color sand on the glue to create their own fireworks. We used so much sand that we combined it all and put the sand in our weekly sensory bin. On Tuesday, we used paint and twisted up pipe cleaners to paint red and blue fireworks and later that day we used firework place mats to help us make fireworks with our play-doh. On Wednesday, we made our Feather F's by using glue and feathers and we also colored our Forth of July Hats. On Thursday, we finished our Forth of July Flag Shirts and colored our fans then the kids used washable paint to paint their own fireworks and we ate our red, white and blue jello.
All week we talked about fireworks and pretended we were fireworks by jumping around and making loud bang sounds. We also tried to find words that started with the letter F inside and outside.
The older children practiced tracing lines between fireworks and identifying the picture that does not belong, which was also fireworks themed.
