We started off the week by making macaroni rainbows. I helped the kids put the glue on then we placed one color at a time to make our rainbows.
We also played with shaving cream. I put drops of food coloring in some of the shaving cream. Even though our theme is not colors this week we started to discuss the different colors and how mixing the colors together makes different colors. I made the colors in front of the children so they could see first hand how mixing the colors makes other colors. We even let the baby participate in this one a little (footprint in the shaving cream). We also worked on writing our letter and number of the week in the shaving cream.
We made rainbows using half a paper plate and gluing cotton balls and construction paper.
We played with play doh and talked about the different colors of a rainbow and tried to collectively make a rainbow with our play doh.
I taped crayons together and had the kids draw rainbows. To make it manageable I only used 4 crayons.
We played with sidewalk chalk outside and I had the kids help me make a rainbow, that pretty much meant I made the rainbow and they drew all sorts of other things with chalk. :)
I used tissue paper and contact paper to make our rainbow sun catchers.
I hid our letter of the week, letter J, around the room. I made capital J's in all the colors of the rainbow and hid them around the room and asked the kids to find them for me.
We painted rainbows using water colors. That consisted of me drawing a rainbow and the kids just coloring it with any water colors they liked.
